KEY PROGRAMMES
Mother Tongue ALP Programme – Confident Communication using Tamil Language
The Applied Learning Programme (ALP) on Confident Communication helps students appreciate the relevance and value of what they are learning in their Tamil Language lessons and speak the language confidently.
ALP Programmes for Confident Communication using Tamil Language :
P1 / P2 : Speech and Drama Programme
P3 / P4 : Story telling
P5 : Tamil Language Journalism Programme
P1 and P2 Speech and Drama
- To encourage and enjoy communicating in Tamil.
- To develop confident communication through drama, songs, poetry and story telling activities.
P3 and P4 Story telling
- To develop confidence communication through storytelling activities.
- To improve oral communication and social skills.
P5 Tamil Language Journalism Programme
- The aim of this workshop is to improve pupils writing and presentation skills. Using the Tamil Language in a fun and non-threatening environment will help to boost pupils’ confidence. From the feedback gained from pupils, it was evident that they enjoyed the workshop and had fun using the language as a means of communication.
P3 – P6 Mother-Tongue Fortnight
This is an initiative by MOE which aims to immerse pupils in various activities related to the Tamil Language. It aims to provide authentic opportunities for pupils to use Tamil Language and experience the associated culture.
P3 Cultural Camp
P3 Cultural Camp is a two-day camp held annually for P3 pupils. The aim of the camp is to expose students to wide range of cultural activities, such as performances and traditional games.
In the process, pupils deepen their understanding of their own cultures through a myriad of fun and educational activities. It also enhances pupils’ interest in learning their Mother Tongue through participation in various activities.
P4 – P6 : Festive Arts Theatre
Shadow play `Irulin Oli` – `இருளின் ஒளி`
- Appreciate Tamil culture and develop an interest in telling stories with the shadow puppets.
- Learn the Singapore stories.
P5 /P6 : Creative Drama
- to build confidence and improve articulation and stage presence and acting skills.
- to improve their acting, language and communication skills and develop their creativity in a fun way.
From the feedback gained from pupils, students improved their acting, language and communication skills, and develop creativity in a fun way.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Tamil language Competitions organised by GRC IAEC Tampines Central CC
- Aims to showcase students command in Tamil language.
- Provides opportunities for students to express their flair for the language.
