IDEA @ Makerspace aims to nurture creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration among upper primary (P5 and P6) students during recess time. This also allows them to build resilience through trialling. Here, students are empowered to create something out of the given raw materials.
Students use a wide range of ideation techniques – such as brainstorming and concept designing to create novel and practical ideas and think out of the box.
This space enables students to become problem solvers, develop positive attitudes and nurture creative thinkers. We also impart life skills such as sewing in the last term so that students could pick up an useful skill and apply in their daily life.

“A science experiment printed on paper will never make as much sense as doing it on your own.”
Science E!Day is an annual workshop aimed to allow parents to learn more about making Science come alive for their child. Using hands-on demonstrations of simple yet interesting D-I-Y experiments, parents are better equipped to help develop and deepen their child’s understanding of scientific concepts with experiments that can be done at home. Some of the concepts covered during the workshop include diversity of materials, light and shadow and the water cycle. Furthermore, parents also had the opportunity to find out about other learning strategies and educational resources that can help communicate scientific concepts accurately. Through Science E!Day, the department hopes to partner parents in equipping our students with the necessary skills to understand the world around them better and nurture them into budding young scientists.
